Privacy policy
Last updated October 2026. This policy explains what Happy Giving collects, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Happy Giving is operated by Houston IT Developers LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@happygiving.co.
What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to run a gift exchange:
- Your name. That is all you need to join; there is no password.
- Your email address, if you give it: used for reminders about your exchange (you can stop them from any reminder email), and to sign in on other devices if you confirm it with a code. It is never shown to other members.
- Your mobile number, if you give it: visible only to the organizers of your exchange so they can text you a reminder from their own phone. We do not send text messages.
- Your name and a photo you choose to upload, shown to the other members of your exchange and used for ornaments and the game.
- Wishlist items you add: titles, prices, links, notes and photos.
- Clue answers you provide for the Guess Who game, such as hair color or hobby.
- An optional ship-to address, visible only to the person who drew you.
- A push notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can send reminders.
- Basic technical data needed to operate the service, such as server logs and anonymous counts of link clicks.
What we do not do
- We do not show ads.
- We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell your personal information.
How we use information
- To create and run your exchanges, including the draw, wishlists, game and keepsake.
- To send sign-in codes, invitations and reminders.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, which gift links are used, so we can earn affiliate commissions.
Who can see what
Members of an exchange can see each other's names, photos, wishlists and clue answers. Who drew whom is visible only to the giver, and to the adult who manages a managed member, until the reveal. Your ship-to address is visible only to your giver. We do not give the organizer a screen that lists the pairs.
Affiliate links
Some links to stores are affiliate links. When you click one, the store may learn that you came from Happy Giving. We do not share your personal information with stores. See the affiliate disclosure.
Service providers
We use infrastructure providers to host the service and deliver email and push notifications. They process data only to provide those services to us.
Children
Accounts are for people 13 and older. A child under 13 can take part only as a managed member: a profile created and controlled by a parent or another adult, with no account, email address or tracking of their own. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings, Delete account, or by email, as described on the delete your account page. Deleting your account removes your profile, photos and clue answers. In past exchanges, your entry may remain as "Former member" so other people's history stays complete, and you can ask us to remove that too.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and server-side checks that enforce who can see each pair. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile and wishlist in the app, turn off notifications in your device settings, and delete your account. If you live somewhere with privacy laws that give you additional rights, such as access or correction, email us and we will help.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
