Delete your account

You can delete your account at any time. Here is how, and what happens to your data.

Delete it in the app

This is the fastest way, in the iPhone, Android or web app:

Open the app and sign in.
Go to Settings.
Choose Delete account.
Read the summary and confirm.

Or ask us by email

If you cannot sign in, email support@happygiving.co from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm it is you before we proceed, and we will reply when it is done.

What gets deleted

Your account and email address.
Your profile photo and clue answers.
Your push notification token and any ship-to address.
Your wishlists, apart from items that a giver already saved as part of their own history.

What may remain

In exchanges that already happened, your entry can stay as "Former member" so other people's history and trees are not broken. It no longer has your name, photo or email. If you want that removed too, say so when you delete your account or in your email, and we will remove it.

We may keep limited records where the law requires, or for security and fraud prevention.
